The Orthopaedic Institute Ltd is a registered national charity who, for over 50 years, have helped to support research for patient benefit in the specialist research centres and departments within the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, a long-standing centre of excellence in orthopaedics. This has only been possible due to donations from patients and grants from organisations and charitable trusts.
In addition to Metabolic Bone, we also provide funding for research into conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system and the advancement of care of these conditions. This includes arthritis and rheumatism, orthopaedic conditions of childhood including cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, joint replacement and cellular techniques for repair and healing.
Additionally, the Orthopaedic Institute Ltd provide funding of educational facilities and organise specialist training courses for orthopaedic trainees and allied health professionals.
